Sans-Serif
Sans-serif (from French 'sans' meaning 'without') fonts lack the decorative strokes found in serif fonts. They have clean, uniform stroke endings. Sans-serif fonts became dominant in digital design because their simpler letterforms render clearly on screens of all resolutions. Major categories include geometric (Futura, Inter), humanist (Fira Sans, Source Sans), and grotesque (Helvetica, Arial). As of 2026, sans-serif fonts dominate web design with Inter, DM Sans, and Plus Jakarta Sans leading in popularity. The clean appearance of sans-serifs communicates modernity and simplicity, making them the default choice for tech companies and digital products.
